Atheists Wanting To Take Down Cross and Solution

Read This First.


Now, I've come up with a much simpler solution.  Offer to sell the parking lot for a dollar.  Now, the new owner will allow the city to continue to use the parking lot.  Problem solved, since the land is now private property.


What about upkeep?

The new owner of the parking lot will not have to do anything.  Since it is his/her land though, he/she will have to pay for all of the upkeep.  However, the city will refund the him/her with a check.

Or the owner can donate the money.


EDIT: How about this?  Go ahead and move the monument, but move it to a private area that will make it MORE visible to others.

There is a town not to far from where I live called Nelsonville, and there is a GIANT cross on a hill overlooking the town.  It's called Betty's Cross.

What I don't understand is why atheists can't ignore it. Christians ignore atheist billboards and all the other media out there. Why can't we just live and let live. It seems to me if you don't believe in Christianity you would just laugh at it the same as I would laugh at people who believe in aliens. Why is it so important to take it away from others?






I have to say.  Atheism is becoming its own religion.  Dictionary.com defines religion as,

Atheism sounds a whole lot like this to me.

The Three Trees

I was reminded today of a story that my church put on a couple of times about three trees.  Here's the story.

There were three trees on a hill.  The three trees were beautiful.

The first tree said, "When I get cut down, I'm going to be made into a treasure chest, where kings can put all of their gold in me."

The second tree said, "When I get cut down, I'm going to be made into a giant ship where many people can sail on me."

The third three said, "I'm going to stay here, and be the tallest tree in the world, and when the world looks up at me, they will see me pointing to heaven."

The first tree was cut down.  Unfortunately, it wasn't made into a grand, lavish treasure chest.  It was made into a lowly manger.

One on cold December night, a man and a woman had a baby, and put the baby into the manger.

The second tree was cut down.  It wasn't made into a giant ship, much to the dismay of the second tree.  Instead, it was made into a lowly fishing boat.

One night, a big storm cam through, and all but one of the occupants were scared.  The sleeping occupant rose, told the storm to be quiet, and the storm stopped.

The third tree was heartbroken when it was cut down.  "I just wanted to be the tallest tree in the world so people can look up to God in heaven."

The tree was cut into lowly pieces of lumber.  One day, two pieces of the tree were nailed together.  A man was places on it, and nailed to it.

The first tree realized something and said, "It wasn't God's will to make me into a grand treasure chest, because I held the greatest treasure in the world. Jesus."

The second tree said, "It wasn't God's will to make me into a giant ship, but into a small fishing boat, with whom one of my occupants would be able to calm storms.  His name was Jesus."

The third tree said, "It wasn't God's will to make me the tallest tree in the world.  A man was nailed to me, and died to save our sins.  This man was Jesus."

In other news, I went to the doctor again last night.  I told him I don't like this medicine I was on (Viibryd), and asked him to put me on something else.  He put me on Pristiq.

Pray that this medicine helps me get better.

Update on my Crucifixion Post and Update on Me

I was searching for a picture for my post called The True Image of the Crucifixion, I described what happens to someone when they are hung on a cross.

I found an image that I saw weeks ago, but couldn't find again.  I found it while researching some more crucifixion images.

You're probably wondering what's going on with my mental health.  I saw my family doctor today to discuss a change of mediation.  I had been taking 30 mg of Prozac (20 and a 10 mg) for about 5 years now, which is about the time it stops working for someone.

Today, he instructed me to start only taking the 20 mg, and 10 mg of a new drug called Viibryd, which is another SSRI, but supposedly doesn't have the side effects of Prozac (weight gain, concentration issues, etc).  I will be weening myself off of Prozac for about a week, then start 20 mg of Viibryd next week.  The week after that, I'll be on 40 mg of Viibryl until I need another medication change.

I've read mixed reviews on this medicine.  Some people are saying it made them gain massive amounts of weight, some say they lost weight.  Some say it didn't help at at, or made it worse, and some said it was a life saver.  Let's all hope it works.

I've been gaining weight again since I quit taking Adderall because it sent me to the hospital last April for a racing heart.  Adderall is a amphetamine, and one of the side effects is weight loss.  Since I was taking Adderall and Prozac at the same time, they kind of cancelled out.  Now since I'm off Adderall, I've gained weight.

Please continue praying for my recovery, and help me beat this demon.

What Am I Giving Up For Lent?

In my previous post, I mentioned that I haven't decided what I was going to give up for Lent.

I've decided that I don't need to give up anything for Lent this year, (but I have stopped eating Cinnamon rolls, so I guess that counts). 

I see some of my Christian friends giving up Facebook for Lent.  That's fine.  Just remember why you're giving up whatever you're giving up.  

Is Lent mentioned in the Bible? Not exactly.  Lent was created by humans to prepare us for the days that we remember the crucifixion of Christ, (Good Friday, Easter).  The word Lent comes from the word lencten, which means "Spring."  

Of course, the number 40 is a special number in Christianity.  Moses spent 40 days on Mount Sinai, eating no food or drinking no water.  Jesus spent 40 days in the desert being tempted by the Devil.  

According to Catholic Education, the a form of Lent was recorded in a letter from St. Irenaeus' (d. 203) letter to Pope St. Victor I.

Go ahead.  Give up something for Lent.  I'm not.  I'm going to be committed to read more scripture and pray more, both things I don't do enough of.

The True Image Of The Crucifixion (explicit picture, but ya'll should see))

I first saw a picture like this in my Jesus Through The Ages class here at Capital University.  We were going over a bunch of crucifix images, trying to differentiate the styles and what is being said about them.  Many images of the crucifix that you see are a white Jesus, hanging loosely on a cross, maybe with head bowed, six-pack abs, and neat, clean cut hair with a part down the middle.  Perky pecks.  Toned biceps and triceps.  Gorgeous thighs and calves.  Toned forearms.  Masculine chin.  Images of people trying to make Jesus look sexy.  This is the image that I've always seen and pictured Jesus as.....
